# Partner referrals

> Refer a business to ThinnestAI, and earn a share of what they spend on voice and on Scale.

If you introduce a business to ThinnestAI, you earn a share of what that
business spends — for as long as the agreement says, paid monthly, visible to
you in your own panel.

This page describes the **referral** track: we bill your client, they are a
ThinnestAI customer, and you take commission. Reselling under your own brand is
a separate arrangement — talk to us.

## Becoming a partner

Apply at **`/partner/apply`** — company, website, the markets you sell into, and
how you would sell this.

<Note>
  **Every application is read by a person.** There is no automatic approval: being
  a partner means a referral code, agreed commission rates and a claim on future
  revenue, so somebody here decides. We come back to you by email.
</Note>

If we cannot take one forward we say why, and you are welcome to apply again if
that changes.

## Getting set up

Once approved, you have two things:

* **A referral link**, like `https://app.thinnest.ai/?ref=yourcode`
* **A partner code**, the `yourcode` part, for anyone you introduce by phone

Then sign in at **`/partner`** to see everything below.

## How a referral is counted

<Steps>
  <Step title="Someone opens your link">
    We remember your code in their browser for **30 days**. If they click two
    partners' links, the **first** one counts — whoever introduced them.
  </Step>

  <Step title="They sign up">
    The code is applied to their new workspace. There is also a **Partner code**
    box on the signup form, so someone you introduced over a call can type
    `yourcode` and still be counted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="It is fixed from then on">
    A workspace belongs to the partner who introduced it and cannot be moved to
    another one later.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  The 30-day window starts at the **first** click, not the most recent one. If
  someone you introduced signs up 31 days later without using the link again, ask
  them to enter your code on the signup form instead.
</Note>

<Warning>
  **Use the exact link from your panel.** A link you build yourself pointing at our
  marketing site will not carry your code — only the app link does. If you would
  rather send someone to the marketing site first, give them your **partner code**
  as well and ask them to enter it at signup.
</Warning>

## Demo workspaces

You can create up to **three demo workspaces** from your panel — somewhere to
show the product to a prospect without touching a client's account.

<Warning>
  **A demo is funded by you, not by us.** It is a real workspace with a real
  balance that starts at zero. Top it up before you try a call or a message, or
  the demo will not connect. Calls and messages cost the usual rates.
</Warning>

Because the spending is your own, a demo workspace **earns you no commission**,
and it is not counted among your referred accounts or in your conversion rate.

## What earns commission

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Voice minutes" icon="phone">
    A share of what a referred workspace is charged for calls.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Scale subscriptions" icon="credit-card">
    A share of the monthly or yearly Scale fee.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

**Nothing else earns commission.** In particular:

|                          |                                                                                                            |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| WhatsApp messages | **No.** These are charged at Meta's own rates and passed straight through, so there is no margin to share. |
| Wallet top-up fees       | No.                                                                                                        |
| Phone number rental      | No.                                                                                                        |
| Website and chat replies | No. |

Your exact rates are on your panel, including any that change after a set number
of months.

## When the rate changes

Commission rates can step down over the life of an account — for example a
higher rate for the first year and a lower one after.

**Those months are counted from the day the workspace signs up**, not from their
first invoice. Your panel shows the referral date for every account so you can
work out where each one sits.

A rate that is renegotiated applies to what you earn **from then on**. Commission
already earned is never recalculated.

## Your panel

Sign in at `/partner`. It shows:

* **How many people opened your link** in the last 90 days, and how many of them
  signed up — so you can tell a traffic problem from a pitch problem
* **Earned, all time** and **this month**
* **Accounts referred**, with each one's plan, referral date and what it has earned
* **Every earning line** — the call or charge, what the client was charged, your
  rate, and your share
* **Payouts**, with period, status and reference

Every figure comes from the same ledger, so the summary, the per-account column
and the lines always agree.

## Getting paid

* Commission is calculated on money we have **actually collected**, after tax and
  payment fees.
* Payouts are raised **monthly, in arrears**, for the previous period.
* If a client is refunded or a payment is reversed, the matching commission is
  reversed — it appears as a **negative line**, so your total always matches what
  a payout will actually contain.
* Small balances roll forward rather than being paid — a transfer costs the same
  whatever it carries. Your minimum is on your panel.

### Why the amount paid differs from the amount earned

Your payout row shows four figures, and the difference between the first and the
last is not a deduction we keep:

|                 |                                                                |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Earned** | Commission for the period, from the ledger |
| **GST** | Added, if you are GST-registered — this is what you invoice us |
| **TDS** | Withheld under **section 194H** and deposited against your PAN |
| **Paid to you** | Earned + GST − TDS                                             |

<Info>
  **TDS is your money, not ours.** It is deposited with the government against your
  PAN and you claim it on your return. We issue the certificate quarterly.
</Info>

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="When does TDS start being deducted?">
    Once your commission for the financial year (1 April to 31 March) passes
    **₹20,000 in total**. It is an annual threshold, not a per-payout one — so
    the payout that takes you over it also covers the earlier ones that were
    under it. That payout will look larger than you expect, and the ones after
    it will be back to normal.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is 20% being deducted instead of 2%?">
    Because we do not have your **PAN** on file. Section 206AA requires 20%
    without one. Send it to us and it drops to 2% on your next payout — we
    cannot reverse deductions already made and deposited, so do it early.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I add GST to my commission?">
    Only if you are GST-registered. If you are, give us your GSTIN and your
    payouts will include 18% on top of your commission, which you account for in
    your own return. TDS is calculated on the commission only, never on the GST.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I am outside India">
    Payouts to non-residents fall under a different regime (section 195) that
    depends on your country's tax treaty with India. We handle those
    individually rather than automatically — talk to us before your first payout.

## Things worth knowing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="A client of mine signed up but nothing is showing">
    Check the referral date on your panel. A workspace only appears once it has
    signed up — not when someone opens your link. If they signed up without the
    link and without typing your code, get in touch with the workspace name and
    we can look into it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="An account is listed but has earned nothing">
    Commission is earned on voice minutes and Scale subscriptions. A workspace on
    the free plan, or one using only WhatsApp and website chat, will show as
    referred and earn nothing. That is expected.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My account says suspended">
    New signups stop being attributed to you and no further commission accrues.
    **Everything you have already earned is unaffected** and is paid on the
    normal schedule. Get in touch to sort it out.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I set my own prices?">
    Not on the referral track — your client buys from us at our published prices
    and you earn a share. Setting your own prices and billing your own clients is
    a reseller arrangement, which works differently. Talk to us about it.
  </Accordion>
